Joelinton has failed to live up to expectations since making the move to St. James’ Park last summer.
The 23-year-old became the club’s record signing last July when he was brought in from Hoffenheim, and there was the belief that he could be the man to lead the line for the north-east outfit.
However, since then, he has scored just one goal in 26 Premier League matches, and has contributed to Steve Bruce’s team only netting 24 in the league on the whole.

The Chronicle has been discussing the Brazilian in an article which was shared on Twitter, and it has got many of the club’s supporters talking. Some have discussed the fact that his valuation has dropped since he joined, from £31m to £27m as per Transfermarkt.
It does seem an incredibly high valuation for a player who has struggled so much in recent months.
Others fans, meanwhile, believe that he was only been brought in to potentially garner a profit in the future.
From a footballing point of view, this is no way to be competitive. Business-wise, though, it does make sense. Either way, if Joelinton continues in this form, there will be no big offer coming in at all.
Some supporters have suggested one way Bruce could get the best out of him.
Bruce has played with two strikers on just four occasions in the Premier League this campaign – it may be worth trying more often to get the best out of Joelinton.
Meanwhile, Newcastle fans discuss former player’s “terrible idea”.
